Mat Warren is an experimental guitarist, sound designer, recording engineer and producer known for his complex improvisational style using his guitar both in a traditional way and also feeding it through machines, devices and software. Utilising looping, generative techniques and complex signal-chains, He creates evocative sound-scapes that twist and morph from ethereal organic pads to sheets of distorted noise.
Having developed his musical foundations across the UK, Mat has been based in the north-west of Ireland since 2016. From his studio in County Leitrim, Mat continues to develop his production style exploring improvisation, field recording, noise, generative music, drones and Granular techniques.
Mat’s live performances create a dynamic/rich sonic soundscape, seamlessly drifting from lush tapestries of sound to distorted, feedback-drenched drones.
When not investigating new avenues of sound creation and manipulation or developing his own musical explorations, Mat can be mostly found at home in his studio, recording and producing music for others and working on commissions.
